Shisa nyama
A shisa nyama is a Zulu term for “braai”, which is an Afrikaans word for “barbecue” – but it means much more than just grilled meat on an open fire. A South African shisa nyama or braai is a beloved national pastime (with its own public holiday) that centres on community.
"Sitting around the fireplace until long after the food has gone down – sharing stories, playing games or quietly enjoying the warmth of the fireplace, family and friends."
At Rosenview, we cherish family time - especially over a good meal, in a gorgeous setting - so we came up with an idea to extend it as an extra service offering to our guests. Our convenient, all-in-one braai packages help you spend less time planning meals and more time with your people.
We have five braai areas (one indoor and four outdoors) which are equipped with tables, chairs and benches; and surrounded by our signature views and nighttime noises of local fauna. The fireplaces are boma-syle (fire pits) which makes them suitable for both cooking and enjoying the ambience of the campfire - as centrepiece for conversation, playing games or braaing marshmallows.
